I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with a background in education and in yoga/fitness teaching. Over the years, I have endeavoured to keep myself fit, both physically and mentally, to be the most effective, daughter, mother, and teacher, whilst juggling the trials and tribulations of life. I believe that fitness is about mental wellbeing and future-proofing your physical health. It is not about the numbers on the scales or the size of your clothes; it is achieving your personal bests and your own unique life journey. What I have found is that balance is the key word. Eating well, keeping active and managing your thoughts and emotions are essential, along with taking time for yourself to be the best version of you.

With counselling in mind, and in my experience, clients bring a wide variety of issues to therapy sessions, such as anxiety, depression, panic-attacks, and low self-esteem, for example. Many of their goals include, learning how to breathe properly, meditate, exercise, and find self -compassion for themselves. Therefore, by combining my skills with each client’s goals, positive change can happen by the fusion of some of the components of cognitive therapy treatments and the principles of fitness, well-being and yoga, I can help you to explore and make sense of your thoughts, emotions and behaviours which are preventing your situation from changing. We can establish any factors and challenges that you are facing, in a non-judgemental and compassionate way. Sessions are creative, practical and collaborative, to ensure that your individual needs are met.

Making the initial step to begin counselling can be daunting, however, a good therapeutic relationship is built on, trust understanding, empathy, attention, acceptance, and encouragement, along with good communication. With this in mind, think about therapy as learning a new skill, adopting new habits, and being able to find new ways of moving in this world.

Although adults are more commonly my client base, I have many years of experience in teaching and dealing with children in a primary school setting. Therefore, I can help children who have autism, Aspergers syndrome, oppositional defiance disorder, anxiety and low self-esteem. In addition to talking, I use play and sand therapy if required.
